Security FAQ
CSnet® is purpose built to support community service organisations with secure, reliable access to their data, while meeting Australian privacy obligations and contractual standards. We take a privacy first by design approach, combining strong technical safeguards with clear governance, transparency, and partnership with our client organisations.
Who owns the data stored in CSnet®?
All data entered into CSnet systems remains the property of your organisation. CSnet® does not claim ownership of client or organisational data and only uses it to deliver and support the CSnet® service in accordance with our licence agreement.
Where is CSnet® data hosted?
All CSnet® customer data is hosted and stored entirely within Australia. The platform is hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS) in the Asia Pacific (Sydney) region, using multiple availability zones for resilience and protection against localised outages.
Does CSnet® comply with Australian privacy laws?
Yes. CSnet® is an Australian company and complies with:
- The Privacy Act 1988 and Australian Privacy Principles (APPs)
- The Notifiable Data Breaches (NDB) Scheme
- Relevant state based privacy and information protection laws
CSnet works in partnership with organisations to meet these shared legal obligations.
How is our data protected?
CSnet® uses multiple layers of security controls, including:
- Encryption of all data at rest
- Strict access controls with identity management and multi factor authentication
- Real time monitoring of the hosting environment
- Regular security reviews and independent testing
Security protections are applied across infrastructure, systems, and processes.
Is our data encrypted?
Yes. All customer data in CSnet® is encrypted at rest, including:
- Databases
- Documents
- System backups
How often is data backed up?
Each CSnet® organisation database is backed up every five minutes, allowing point in time recovery within minutes if required.
What happens if there is a system outage or disaster?
CSnet® has documented and tested business continuity and disaster recovery processes in place.
If a serious system failure occurs:
- Services can be restored in alternate Australian availability zones
- Customer data can be recovered to within minutes of the last backup
- Full disaster recovery rehearsals are conducted annually to validate these processes
Customers are kept informed in line with CSnet® communication procedures and service commitments.
Organisational Readiness
Build strong foundations before implementation begins.
Successful projects start long before a system is configured. CSnet’s Readiness as a Service (RaaS) helps organisations understand their current environment, identify readiness risks early and prepare for successful change.
Key areas of focus
- People, change and stakeholder readiness
- Process and workflow reviews
- Data migration and reporting readiness
- Governance, decision-making and project preparation
- Capability building and readiness planning
By strengthening readiness upfront, organisations can reduce implementation risk, build confidence and make better decisions before project work begins
